Kabelwerk is created for digital health applications processing sensitive medical and personal data — protection against data breaches is the name of the game for us. Our code is crafted using carefully vetted technologies, with a minimum number of dependencies, and with automatic testing against possible security vulnerabilities.
Server processing times for messages exchanged over a Kabelwerk chat measure in dozens of microseconds (millionths of a second).
Our backend is built on top of a legendarily stable foundation — Erlang/OTP — developed and maintained by Ericsson since the 1980s for use in mobile network infrastructure. Informally described as "write once, run forever", Erlang/OTP is behind widely used chats such as Discord.
Our battle-tested open-source SDK for JavaScript and SDK for React Native allow you to retain full control over the chat's design and UX in both your customer-facing software product as well as the internal tools used by your care team.
All our servers are located in Germany and operated by Hetzner Online GmbH, a German company. Alternatively, if you are on the Werkstatt or Kabelbetrieb plan, you can self-host the proprietary Kabelwerk backend on your own servers. Either way, with us you do not have to worry about dubious EU-US privacy shields and standard contractual clauses.
Cara Care für Reizdarm is a digital health application which supports people suffering from chronic gastrointestinal issues. Developed by the Berlin-based startup HiDoc Technologies GmbH, it is the first real-world application which includes a chat powered by Kabelwerk.
